Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge (18)

From Amanda’s blog:
Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge is where Tara @ 25 Hour Books and I shamelessly plug each other, share the fantastic posts, giveaways, or whatever else we’ve found and loved by other awesome bloggers (or authors!) during the week, and talk about the books we plan on reading in the coming week.

Merry Christmas from Reading In Winter!

Happy New Year! (talking about some new year goals and resolutions, both blogging, reading, and personal)

BOUT OF BOOKS 6.0: Goals and Starting Line Post

What did I do this week? in the past two weeks?

  • Christmas happened! We had a great few days with friends and family — played lots of games and had some great meals. It was wonderful!
  • Hubs and I relaxed some more, watched LOTS of holiday movies, and did some housework things. In fact, I deep cleaned the kitchen, the bathrooms, read LOTS of articles on Real Simple, made up a small crafting area for myself, did a little online shopping for household necessities, and made sure I was totally ready for 2013! The only thing I forgot was getting a calendar! But, seeing as we made it into December with the calendar still being on October, I think I’m good for a little while. 🙂
  • New Years came! And hubs and I watched The Big Bang Theory until about 10:00, then went to bed. We’re old like that.
  • I got to go back to work this week and was super happy about it. Like I said, I just love being around ALL THE BOOKS and the people who love the books. And, after being a sloth for about a week, it was nice to get up and move around — my body appreciated it.
  • I changed one of my shelves on Goodreads to “on-my-ereader” after realizing that I have my Kobo, my iPod, and my iPad (which has 4 reading apps on it) — ALL of which I read on. Whenever I’d add anything to the Kindle app, I’d add it as being “on-my-kobo,” which has been driving me nuts!
  • Went and saw Jack Reacher on Saturday. It was really good! We were going to see The Hobbit, but weren’t sure about a 3 hour movie. Instead we went to the shorter film then went out for dinner. It was a nice day!

  • Well, I’ve read a book in a series, as well as a book everyone seems to have read but me. I know how I want to attack the board, so I’ve been mapping my books out on paper — I’ll update more when I feel like I’ve accomplished more!

  • No progress yet, since I have yet to pick up ANY of the books in the piles by my bed (all of which are on my series list. I love piles of books.). I do hope to attack it in the upcoming week during Bout of Books!

Awesome things happening around the blogosphere!

And a few authors and other things …

And this video … it made me fall of my chair when I saw it and laugh well into the night. Seriously.

*** my listing style for this section is totally stolen from the oh-so-organized Amanda, who got it from Tara. My hope is that some of their organization will rub off on me. Is it possible? Not likely.

    • There was some awesome stuff going on this week – I hope you can check out the links!

And my amount of reading last year pales in comparison to some … Not sure I’ll get there this year!

  1. Oh books, how I love thee. 2012 was a rough year so I figured I’d read a couple favourites to kick off the year to a good start! I finished the lovely bones, bitten – Kelley armstrong, and I am currently on homers odyssey by Gwen cooper 🙂

  2. Ooo I haven’t heard of that Epic Reads site before! I’ll have to check it out. Sounds like you had a lovely holiday season and YAY for all the cleaning and organizing! I like to do that stuff too at the beginning of the year. Have a good week Kristilyn!

    • I’m neat and tidy most of the time, but at the new year and in spring and fall, I love doing all the extra cleaning and organizing things. I actually like it – I’m weird!

And yes, check out Epic Reads! It’s a fun site. 🙂

  3. 259 books — that’s amazing!! I thought I’d make it to 250, but I had a few lag periods where I wasn’t reading as much. I’m setting my 2013 goal for 200 and if I surpass it, great. And wondering if other people count audiobooks. If I did, I’d have 250 total, easy.

    • I definitely count audiobooks! I plan to do some of my rereading this year through audiobook! I only set my goal for 100 books, but I know I’ll be raising it … I hope I can get 200-some read this year! Good luck to you!

  4. I have to say I don’t get that video at all O.o I watched it when it was on FB and was…. well lost LOL I like that you changed your shelf from Kobo to ereader lol you seem to have a lot going on in that department. Nice that you got to go back to work, it’s great to do something that you love so much!

    • Ha ha … obviously, we have varying tastes in our YouTube videos — I couldn’t stop laughing! But I’ve watched Jack Howard videos for a while now, so I know what to expect. 🙂

  5. Wow you’ve been a busy girl! I really need to read the Outlander series – people keep telling me I HAVE to and I WANT to but they’re so huge I’m intimidated lol. Have a great week!

  6. I’ve been hearing good things about Jack Reacher! I’m with you – psyching yourself up to see a 3-hour movie is HARD. Sometimes, I just can’t do it. Although, if it’s a movie I really want to see, then I have much more success sitting through it if I’m at a theatre as opposed to waiting till it comes out on DVD. So long movies I do try and see in theatre. Off topic a bit, but did you ever see the last Twilight movie yet?

The speakers on my computer no longer work so I’ll have to come back and watch that video!

Also, I love piles of books too 🙂

    • I still haven’t seen the last Twilight movie! I have an Empire Theatre gift certificate for one admission and was going to see it, but it’s not playing anymore. I might just wait until I finish reading through the books again, and THEN see it.

  7. Sale books are the greatest. I watch the Kindle Daily Deals every day! I have heard some not great things about a couple of these, but I hope you enjoy them. I’m pretty sure Marco Impossible is getting rave reviews though.

You had an awesome reading year. Well done!

    • They really are the greatest! I’m in Canada so the sale books don’t always work for me, but I do love some of the sales that pop up.

I can’t wait to dig into Marco Impossible! I love a good MG read. 🙂
