Cover Love: Books I’d Put in the Freezer (Halloween Cover Edition)

I have been on the look-out for a scary read for quite some time. Maybe it’s the fact that I’m reading rather than watching, or the lack of scary music, but books just don’t have the same scare factor that movies do — for me, at least. But when it comes to book covers, some of them terrify me! I found a bunch of covers that would have me putting the book in the freezer, despite what may go on between the cover flaps — covers that I wouldn’t want by my bedside!

Perfect for Halloween, here are some of the scariest book covers:

peregrine

Floating child? No thank you.

husk

Weird mannequin-like person with blacked out eyes? I gave this book away because of the cover.

history is dead

I don’t think I have the space to explain why this is so creepy!

annabelle

A doll with a noose around its neck? I don’t like any of this!

the house of dead maids tales of the undead a certain slant of light H253_SCH_GB7_Dummy_0.tif rot and ruin the replacement

What are some of the scariest book covers you’ve seen? Have you ever NOT kept a book by your bedside because of the cover?
