Note: These reviews are for some of the bonus content available online for Jonathan Maberry’s Benny Imura series. They’re both pretty short and don’t include covers or anything, so I just included the covers for the books they pertain to. If you like this series, they’re definitely worth the read!

This is a very short collection of stories about the characters during the First Night. I really enjoyed reading Tom’s story of the First Night, especially since it’s something that’s talked about a lot during Rot & Ruin.

It’s always nice to get the backstory for a story like this, especially since Rot & Ruin takes place well after the apocalypse takes place. When we start book number one, we know that there are zombies out there and we hear about the First Night, so it’s nice to see some of the characters’ thoughts on this alluded-to First Night. In fact, it would have been nice to get a longer story about the First Night as it sounds like it was a truly terrifying time!

I would definitely recommend reading the first book before tackling this one or it might not make any sense at all, but I do think it’s worth a read if you’re into this series!

This one wasn’t that bad, but not too memorable for me. I think it acts more as a prequel to Dust & Decay than anything else. There are a few shorts collected here and one of them includes a character that didn’t appear in Rot & Ruin.

I read this before tackling Dust & Decay and I will admit that it made me excited for this next book in the series. Though, while I really enjoyed reading First Night Memories, I can’t say that this one was as exciting or intriguing. It was good and provided more insight to the characters, but I was kind of glad that it was free bonus content.
