Protect the geek, that’s the job she’s been hired for, but little did this shewolf expect to fall for a man of science.

As a werewolf who hires out as a bodyguard, Lexie is paid well to perform dangerous jobs that sometimes involve taking off her clothes. When she takes on the protection of a science geek for a vampire clan, she doesn’t expect her temporary girlfriend status to come with lots of pleasure. But a geeky human who pushes all her right buttons—and plays her body oh so right—isn’t reason enough for her to break the rules and fall in love.

Everything changes after an incident in the lab, but before she can decide if it’s safe to give him her heart, she has to help him survive.

my thoughts-01

(Note: This review was originally posted on Reading In Winter: After Dark which is no longer available.)

This was fun! I’ll admit that two things drew me into reading this story (well, okay, THREE things):

1. Kelly from Reading the Paranormal read it and LOVED it.
2. Eve Langlais is CANADIAN.
3. Yum. (in reference to the cover)

The whole premise of this book was great from start to finish. I loved that the geek in the story, Anthony, wasn’t a geek at all, but a hot scientist, and the girl sent to protect him, Lexie, was a kick-ass werewolf. Anthony starts off as shy and awkward (but still incredibly good looking due to his time spent at the gym, making him the exception to the normal look of the typical geek), but then ends up completely masculine in his take-charge attitude.

The sex was sultry and frequent, though I was a little curious WHY Lexie had to have sex with the geek (I’m thinking it was to keep him occupied so that he doesn’t know he’s being protected). Of course, I always have to remind myself of the genre of the book and sex is an integral part. BUT there was a bit of a twist with these scenes because Lexie’s a wolf, so on full moon nights she has to be careful and get away or she could kill the person she’s supposed to protect.

There was suspense, mystery, lots of fighting, and plenty of sexy times in this story and it was a definite fun ride. Nice to see the smart guy and tough girl combo. I’ll be sure to check out more Eve Langlais in the future!
