Bookish Spotlight Button 2-01

Bookish Spotlight is a new feature for 2014. I wanted a feature that would showcase — in my opinion — the best books, or, the books that I absolutely love and can’t stop sharing with other people. These can be books, entire series — anything goes! My goal is that my readers might find a great new read after reading this feature.

With all the vampire, werewolf and faerie books out there, it’s easy to become numb to all things supernatural. The antidote? Darkhouse introduces two real and unforgettable characters, Perry Palomino & Dex Foray, amateur ghost hunters who are “attractive, relatable and oddly heroic,” “flawed but loveable,” “slightly crazy” and just the most endearing pair to ever tackle the paranormal…just don’t call them normal.

Darkhouse is a thrilling and sexy new take on concepts like Supernatural and The X-Files, bringing a breath of fresh air to a genre that has been inundated with the dead.

***Darkhouse and the Experiment in Terror series is a horror/romance for mature audiences only. Readers who are easily offended by harsh language should think twice about reading it.***

Why it’s a favourite: When it comes to series that get me flailing (seriously, hide your breakables!), this is THE one. I think I had the first book in the series, Darkhouse, on my ereader for quite some time before I decided to read it. It’s horrible, but I got it for free from Kobo and for some reason the “freeness” of it seemed to push it down in my pile. Of course, once I started reading the first book, I knew I was in trouble — I completely LOVED it. I had to continue on in the series and to this day, I’m always talking about Karina’s work with people. Whenever I dig into the latest book in the series, I fall in love with Perry and Dex all over again AND, being the horror lover I am, it’s awesome to get in that horror mood with the different settings Karina brings us, from lighthouses, to asylums, to … you name it! If you haven’t read this series, you MUST read this series. You will LOVE it. I promise.

Have you read this one?

    • You should ask your library to get it in! I did that with mine. They love supporting indie authors! And can you believe I’ve never watched The X-Files? Shame, I know!
