- The Best Man
- The Perfect Match
Honor Holland has just been unceremoniously rejected by her lifelong crush. And now—a mere three weeks later—Mr. Perfect is engaged to her best friend. But resilient, reliable Honor is going to pick herself up, dust herself off and get back out there… or she would if dating in Manningsport, New York, population 715, wasn’t easier said than done.
Charming, handsome British professor Tom Barlow just wants to do right by his unofficial stepson, Charlie, but his visa is about to expire. Now Tom must either get a green card or leave the States—and leave Charlie behind.
In a moment of impulsiveness, Honor agrees to help Tom with a marriage of convenience—and make her ex jealous in the process. But juggling a fiancé, hiding out from her former best friend and managing her job at the family vineyard isn’t easy. And as sparks start to fly between Honor and Tom, they might discover that their pretend relationship is far too perfect to be anything but true love….
I am absolutely in love with Kristan Higgins! Don’t you just love when you find a new favourite author and realize they have a TON of books in their back catalogue that you can catch up on? I’m so excited!
This book was awesome. I loved it from the minute I started reading it! It reminded me of that old movie, Green Card, with Andie MacDowell and Gerard Depardieu … am I old for bringing up that movie? If you haven’t seen it, it’s from 1990 and features two people falling in love after getting together so one could get their green card. Since I loved that movie growing up, I loved the premise of this book, with Honor Holland and Tom Barlow hooking up, deciding to marry one another so that Tom can stay in the country – and maybe they start actually liking one another!
I loved Tom, and I loved Honor, and I loved their relationship with one another! I also love that the characters have their flaws and aren’t immediately likeable. Instead they grow on you as you read the story and by the end you’re just completely in love! I despised Dana and everything she did, and I loved that we got to see Faith and Levi again! Plus, the winery! It’s this whole character on its own. It kind of reminds me of that movie with Catherine Zeta Jones, No Reservations, when they all get together to eat and learn the menu, except it’s with wine! I don’t even like wine lately, but this series has me wanting to refine my palate.
Another wonderful book from a new favourite author! I loved seeing Tom and Honor grow as the story went on and I immediately put the next book on hold at the library since I just have to keep listening!
