Geek Girl Mysteries series
- A Geek Girl’s Guide to Murder
- A Geek Girl’s Guide to Arsenic
It’s been three months since Jake Archer rolled into town, accused Mia Connors of murder and stole her heart. She hasn’t heard from him since. So when a man collapses at the fall Renaissance Faire, she’s surprised to see the US marshal arrive on scene. And shocked when he points the finger at her—again. Mia would sooner be able to resurrect the poor fellow than poison him.
Jake Archer’s career has been rising fast, but it’s about to come to a crashing halt. The Ren-Faire victim was in protective custody—Jake’s custody—and they were painfully close to nabbing a major crime boss. If Jake doesn’t solve the murder soon, he’ll be fetching donuts instead of protecting his nation. A difficult enough task without the alluring Mia Connors in the way.
Working with Jake to catch the killer might push Mia into crazy-cat-lady territory. But with a murderer on the loose—and Mia’s reputation on the line—they’ll have to work fast to find the killer before the killer finds them.
Earlier this year, I finally got a library card for a library closer to me because whenever I’d look on their Overdrive page, I’d see the cover for the first book in this series, A Geek Girl’s Guide to Murder. I had been getting really into cozy mysteries over the last year and this one had looked perfect for me, so I got a library card for that library just to get the ebook … and then I was hooked on the series!
I love Mia and her job, her friends, her family, her romantic escapades (and frustrations) … it’s just such a good series! I loooove Jake. He’s such a different male character, especially since they did have some chemistry in the first book and I’m still not totally sure what their relationship is supposed to be! Maybe it’s because Mia and Jake are soooo much different from Bree and Tom – who are crazy open about everything they feel sexually. Dare I hope for more romance in the next book? Please, please, please!
The mystery was great in this story, too, though I’m sure if I had really put my mind to it, I could’ve guessed who the killer was earlier in the book. Needless to say, I didn’t, but no matter, this book was so much fun! I like the geeky spin to it, even if Mia isn’t the kind of geek I see myself to be.
My library *just* got the next book in the series and I am really looking forward to it! I can’t wait for more Jake and Mia!
