Synopsis:

In the explosive finale to New York Times bestselling author Jeaniene Frost’s Night Prince series, Vlad is in danger of losing his bride to an enemy whose powers might prove greater than the Prince of Vampire’s….

In the wrong hands, love can be a deadly weapon.

For nearly six hundred years, Vlad Tepesh cared for nothing, so he had nothing to lose. His brutal reputation ensured that all but the most foolhardy stayed away. Now falling in love with Leila has put him at the mercy of his passions. And one adversary has found a devastating way to use Vlad’s new bride against him.

A powerful spell links Leila to the necromancer Mircea. If he suffers or dies, so does she. Magic is forbidden to vampires, so Vlad and Leila enlist an unlikely guide as they search for a way to break the spell. But an ancient enemy lies in wait, capable of turning Vlad and Leila’s closest friends against them…and finally tearing the lovers apart forever.

My Thoughts

Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series is one of my favourite paranormal romance series. I don’t read a lot of them these days, but I always jump for joy when a new book comes out. Sadly, the series is almost over (though Ian looks to be getting his own series, so hopefully 4 more books like Vlad’s series?) so I’m savouring every book I can get!

Really, this is the longest series I’ve ever followed, with the entire series and spin off series totaling 13 books! I’ve loved Vlad since we first met him and so naturally I love his series. Him and Leila are perfect together and I love both the romance between them and the humour.

There is so much action in this series that it was hard to put down – I started listening early in the morning and just had to go back and listen to more, finishing the story in one day. It was so good! I loved seeing a lot of the older characters come back (though no Bones and Cat? They seemed to make an appearance in all the spin off books.) and getting to know more about Vlad and Leila.

Now that this series is over, I’ve got a new favourite vampire – Ian! While I loved Vlad and Leila, Ian really stole the show in this book and I love him so much. He’s so flirty and just the complete opposite of Vlad (who is a lot more serious after being a vampire for so long) and he had the best lines in the book. I’m so intrigued to see what his story will be like!

Audiobook Notes:

I love Tavia Gilbert and haven’t listened to one of her narrations since the last Jeaniene Frost book, so it was really nice to listen to her again. I actually started to read the physical copy of this book but put it down after a few pages because it just wasn’t the same reading it in my own head. I needed to have her read it to me! She does such an amazing job of bringing the characters alive and really driving the action and pace of the book. She expresses the emotion of the characters so well and it’s just addicting listening to her read. If you haven’t listened to her narrations, I highly recommend them!

But don’t take my word for it … read some other reviews!
